Behind the name Freya
GENDER: Feminine
USAGE: Norse Mythology
PRONOUNCIATION: FRAY-ah
Freya's name comes from the old Norse term Freyja, which basically means "Lady". Incidentally, it is also the name of a famous Norse goddess. According to the Eddas (or Old Norse Poems), Freya was portrayed as a goddess of fertility, love, beauty and attraction. She was also a goddess of war, death, magic, prophecies and wealth. One of the most prominent tasks as a goddess was that she received half of the heroes slain in battle and brought them to the hall of Sessrumnir, or Room of Seat, located within her realm of Asgard. The other half were taken by Odin.
On an interesting note, "Freya" is the fifth most popular name for girls in Denmark as of 2005, thus making it a rather common Danish name.
From Kabalarian Philosophy:
Although the name Freya creates the urge to be reliable and responsible, we emphasize that it causes a blunt expression that alienates others.
This name, when combined with the last name, can frustrate happiness, contentment, and success, as well as cause health weaknesses through worry, mental tension, and tension or accidents to the head.
Your name of Freya has created a practical, responsible, stable nature, and you desire to direct the efforts of others rather than to take order or ask permission.
You have a determined, self-reliant, capable nature and resent any interference, although in your desire to help you are inclined to become involved in the lives and decisions of other people.
You like to make your own decisions and to be the master of your domain.
You feel a limitation in your own expression when it is necessary to reach another through tact and understanding.
